Synagogue Expansion
and Renovation
New Jersey
This growing New Jersey synagogue engaged BH+L to help them modernize their building and reconfigure their floor plan that had evolved through several additions over the past 50 years. Needing more community spaces, classrooms, administration offices, and worship space, the design pushes the perimeter outward allowing the center to expand as a welcoming gathering space for a variety of activities. The new lobby provides better security, improved accessibility, a more legible circulation, and a new powerful image for the congregation. The design also updates the sanctuary and social hall.
The initial study included a congregational design charrette.
