Brawer Hauptman + Larkin, teamed with AKF Engineers, was selected to renovate Swarthmore College’s historic boiler house and to design a compatible addition.  The existing boiler plant is an early 20th century brick building prominently located at the College’s south entrance.  The addition takes its aesthetic cues from the industrial style of the original building.  The addition houses two new boilers and electrical equipment.  This will allow the College to serve the needs of its growing campus for many years to come.  The new building features a buff colored brick, red steel industrial sash and limestone trim and is intended to provide a new dramatic image for this gateway into the campus.
