The KleinLife JCC is a 60,000 square foot 40-year-old facility that has become the busiest Older Adult Center in Philadelphia. The evolving demographics of its Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood makes a major portion of the building’s users Russian Jews, who use the building for recreation, Russian language programming, medical and dental care, meals and worship space.
BH+L completed a study to review the programming, evaluate the existing conditions, complete a code review and provide a schematic design to reconfigure the building and update the spaces, many of which had become worn and tired. Recommendations were also made for giving the exterior a more welcoming image. Cost estimates were provided as well as a series of renderings that would be used in the facility's 40th anniversary capital campaign.
