BH+L completed a feasibility study for Drexel University that explored a number of locations on the campus for a Hillel Center and recommended a site in a neighborhood with residential scale buildings. The students requested that the building have a home-like and contextual quality. The proposed design reflects that preference as well as the concerns of the neighbors and surrounding community. The ground floor cafe, covered porch and building setback all give the building an image that combines public, institutional use and its historic residential context.
