Design for the Children
East Africa
BH+L was a finalist in this international competition to design modular, customizable health centers for East African villages that could be constructed using local materials and construction methods. The architects assembled an advisory team of physicians who had practiced in the region, artists who specialized in community work and African medical students studying in Philadelphia who participated in the design process.
